AhlulBayt News Agency - On Sunday evening, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jund Al-Aqsa” – backed by the Turkestan Islamic Party – launched a large-scale offensive inside the Al-Ghaab Plains of northwestern Hama, targeting the villages of Haqoura, Khirbat Al-Naqous, and Al-Mansoura near the Latakia Governorate’s eastern border.
The extremist rebels began the assault by launching 2 VBIEDs (vehicle borne improvised explosive device) at the Al-Mansoura Grain Silos; one of them would connect and force the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to abandon their posts at this imperative site.
Following the capture of the Al-Mansoura Grain Silos, the extremist rebels would make a series of gains around Khirbat Al-Naqous and Al-Mansoura before the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) emerged on the scene to help the Syrian Armed Forces to drive back Jund Al-Aqsa and the Turkestan Islamic Party.
The Syrian Arab Army was able to recapture all of the points they lost to the extremist rebels on Sunday night, save the Al-Mansoura Grain Silos that are currently contested by the opposing parties.
